Sericyne, the Art of Sericulture

A French Sericultural Expertise with an International Outlook

The Cévennes region, historically the heart of French sericulture, saw its silk farming industry gradually disappear.

For the past ten years, Sericyne has been taking on the challenge of reviving this heritage by developing a sector based on two major pillars: innovation and sustainability, while fostering strategic international collaborations.

A Historical Anchor: Seriagri, Europe’s Leading Sericulture Company. Located in the heart of the Cévennes, Sericyne has revived mulberry cultivation and silkworm farming through a fully traceable and sustainable approach.

To strengthen this revival, Sericyne created its agricultural subsidiary, Seriagri, with a dual ambition: ensuring high-quality, traceable raw material supply for both Sericyne and its clients and fostering the development of the sericulture industry.

With an expert team in sericulture, the company has planted thousands of white mulberry trees the only food source for silkworms. At its nursery, Seriagri ensures the supply of silkworm eggs and oversees all hatchings, providing optimal rearing conditions for our silk farmers.

A network of dedicated silk farmers has been working alongside us for years, raising silkworms daily in France. The sector continues to expand annually with new mulberry plantation projects.

An Internationally-Oriented Company

While deeply rooted in French heritage, Sericyne also pursues an ambitious international strategy. To guarantee high-quality raw materials and drive further growth, the company has forged strong partnerships with key players in the global silk industry.

Sericyne collaborates with an Italian research center specializing in silkworm genetics and the development of sericulture in Europe. As part of this initiative, Sericyne has been actively involved for the past two years in the ARACNE European program, aimed at promoting and developing the European silk industry by pooling the expertise of various stakeholders (industry leaders, universities, and laboratories).

Additionally, Sericyne has established a close partnership with the world’s leading sericulture company for the luxury industry in Brazil.

This global outreach, combined with deep local expertise, enables Sericyne to maintain consistent quality while meeting the growing demand for Sericyne® silk and other products from our sector.

A Sustainable and Eco-Friendly Model

Sericyne is reinventing sericulture with an environmentally conscious approach. The company operates within the Cévennes National Park, an ecologically protected area.

A clean environment is essential for silkworm farming. To sustain sericulture in France, Sericyne is committed to biodiversity preservation and sustainable land management. All our plantations are certified Organic Agriculture.

Through this commitment, Sericyne is revitalizing a heritage of exceptional craftsmanship. By blending tradition and innovation, Sericyne offers luxury clients a new silk that is traceable, sustainable, and highly desirable.
